Many of you are probably familiar or at least aware of holistic treatments. They are becoming more popular in our society. The basic idea is that you need to treat the issue as a whole. Not just the body or physical side of the problem but also the emotional and mental side.
One expert has taken this same holistic view and applied it to weight loss. According to Henri Roca a medical director of Greenwich Hospital’s Centre for Integrative Medicine it’s more than just what we eat that decides how much weight we lose.
And it’s more than just the exercise we do as well.
Roca states: “Stress alone can have more of an impact than most people realize. Chronic stress can lead to increased cortisol levels, which stimulate glucose production in the body. Excess glucose is converted to and stored as fat, particularly around a person’s mid-section. A chemical chain reaction can occur inside the body and sabotage the best weight loss efforts”.
So next time you are feeling anxious, upset, or stressed out, just think what it’s doing to your body. Your mood may be preventing you from shedding those extra.
Take some time to learn basic relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation. And if you can, treat yourself to a spa day every once in awhile.
Whatever you do, keep those stress levels in check. You can read the rest of the article here.
